The tops seeds took out the 2018 ITF South Pacific Open Junior Championships in Lautoka yesterday. Number one seed from India, Mann Shah, has taken home the boys singles title beating Japan’s Ayato Arakaki 6-4 6-0.

In the girl’s singles final top seed, Carol Lee from the Northern Mariana Islands played exceptionally well to defeat Japan’s Ikumi Yamazaki 6-2 6-1.

“It was an outstanding display of tennis from all players with the winners having too much class on the day,” stated Tennis Fiji in a release.

In the doubles it was Indian pair Mann Shah and Aaryan Zaveri who won a hard fought contest against second seeds Ryota Ishii from Japan and Kamil Kozlowski of Australia 7-6 6-7 (10-8).

The girl’s doubles wasn’t played due to an injury to Manami Ukita. Second seeds Wing Ka Lin from Hong Kong and Jingyi Wang from China took the trophy from Ukita and Yamazaki of Japan by a walkover.

The players now switch their focus to the ITF Oceania Open Junior Championships which starts today at the Regional Tennis Centre Lautoka.
