between THE LINES

Why traffic flowed
If you were wondering why traffic flowed a bit faster yesterday on the Laqere-Nepani- Nadawa-Nadera stretch of road, the answer was there was no queue jumping.
Those responsible were the Police and the Land Transport Authority personnel. We commend them for responding to a request to patrol the area and monitor the sometimes appalling road use. Not only were there queue jumpers before, but also crazy drivers who passed other cars on the left using the pedestrian space. A plea went out from this column for urgent action and the Police and LTA responded with resounding success. Kudos to them.
