Gamel’s Bula Boys Lose Again

The Vodafone national football side lost 1-0 to Malaysia in the inter­national friendly match played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia yesterday.

And Fiji could slip further in the FIFA ranking after being beaten by a team ranked 171st in the world.

The Fijians are currently ranked 165th and also lost 2-3 to Philippines ranked 115th in March and to Estonia (94th) 0-2 last year.

Coach Christophe Gamel, who flew to France after the game, fielded a mixture of young and experienced players at the KLFA Stadium attended by 4790 fans.

The team included Misiwani Nairube (GK), Remueru Tekiate, Kavaia Rawaqa, Zibraaz Sahib, Paulo Buke, Rusiate Ma­tarerega, Christopher Wasasala, Mitieli Namuka, Kolinio Sivoki and Laisenia Raura while the national U19 reps Save­naca Beldrokadroka and Ratu Kaliova Dau made their debut off the bench.

The Fijians had numerous opportuni­ties however, the Bula Boys failed to score.

Malaysia play Taiwan tomorrow while the team arrive into the country on Sun­day at 7.05am.
