No more classes will be held at the school hall after Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama commissioned a new classroom block at Nausori Primary School yesterday.

Mr Bainimarama said Government had committed $843,000 for the project.

“This was made possible by Government’s Small Grant Scheme, which is an initiative that runs directly through the Office of the Prime Minister.”

For this reason, the grants have become very important to him because he has always ensured it to be a sound and good investment for recipients.

Mr Bainimarama said as he saw the faces of those whom the new facility would service, he knew that every dollar was well spent.

“When I say that improving lives and creating opportunities are what fuels my passion for serving the Fijian people, there is no better example of how my Government is achieving this goal than through our ongoing education revolution in Fiji.”

Over the past decade Government’s consistent and targeted investment in the education of Fijian students such as those present yesterday, had led to the historic achievement of universal primary education, he said.

Mr Bainimarama said his Government had invested heavily in education and this had led to more school enrolments.

In 2011, the school roll stood at 119 students compared with 682 this year.

Mr Bainimarama urged students to take advantage of not only the new classrooms, but opportunities that awaited them.

“Study hard and do your teacher and family proud,” Mr Bainimarama told students.

School manager Louisa Underwood said for the 15 years she’s been at the school, this was one of the best achievements.

The new classroom block, she said, would be used by the senior students. Edited by Ranoba Baoa
