Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) were well represented and generated a lot of interest during the  Cuvu College’s Careers Expo in Sigatoka on Friday.

The Fiji Navy Squadron, Force Training Group and Army Engineers Corps showcased and presented the various divisions and departments under the force to teachers, students and visitors.

The exhibition was organised by the Ministry of Education in partnership with stakeholders and other Government ministries.

Ministry of Education director secondary Emosi Lutunaika was the chief guest at the event.

Mr Lutunaika aptly quoted Nelson Mandela’s autobiography the book ‘Long Walk to Freedom’ which reads: “Education is the great engine of personal development.

“It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that a son of a mineworker can become the head of the mine, that a child of farm workers can become the president of a great nation.”

He said: “With the late Nelson Mandela’s words of wisdom we can see how education can provide for our next generation with multiple pathways to succeed.”

Mr Lutunaika said the rural remote school career exhibition was in line with Government initiatives to take its services to the rural, remote and maritime schools.

“With it, the hope of bridging access for career lack of information and services from the grassroots level is fulfilled,” he added.
