A group of students with disabilities were part of the Gospel High School cadet passing-out parade yesterday.

This was confirmed by Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) instructor Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) Joji Wara.

He said their platoon; No.1 Platoon Blue House was awarded the Best Platoon Drill prize.

WO2 Wara said during the practice an interpreter was used to hand signal the commands used.

The same interpreter was part of the school’s passing-out parade.

Deaf student Nasoni Nawanawailagi, speaking through an interpreter, said he was happy to be part of the parade.

He said he was able to follow the commands through the interpreter.

Nasoni said he would like to be part of the passing-out parade again next year because he would be in Year 12.

He thanked the instructors from the RFMF and the teachers for allowing him to be part of the school cadet programme.
