Veterans Boost Fijiana
Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s will be led by five veterans to the Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco on July 20-22.
Head coach Iliesa Tanivula said having experienced players in their side always had positive impact on performance.
The five players Pricilla Siata, Asinate Savu, Viniana Riwai, Luisa Basei and Rusila Nagasau will be featuring in their second World Cup tournament.
“Having them boost the morale of the younger players because it is always good to have experienced reps in the squad as it brings positive vibes on and off the field,” Tanivula said.
He said given the limited preparation and game time, they would need all their experienced players to lead the charge on game day.
“We need as much game time as we can so our players can have some match experience. But with these players in the fold, it lifts our players’ morale and their experience tends to rub off to the younger players.”
The team departed for Denver last night.
