Why The Silence, Biman Prasad?
NFP leader in Parliament Biman Prasad.

National Federation Party leader Biman Prasad’s cheap and weak attempt to justify his silence against the rants from the SODELPA side fools no one.

Yesterday, he attempted to blame Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum for not releasing a payment to Dr Anirudh Singh who was beaten up by five of SODELPA leader Sitiveni Rabuka’s military officers.

He has forgotten that it was Mr Sayed-Khaiyum, who continuously called Mr Prasad out in Parliament for ignoring Dr Singh’s plight.

It was not Mr Sayed-Khaiyum per se, who was named in a civil case that Dr Singh had filed!

Since October 6, 2014, when the new Parliament convened to date, Mr Prasad has not once called out SODELPA for lying in Parliament, for inciting hatred.

He was quiet when Opposition leader Ro Teimumu Kepa read out a list of Muslim countries, which had a Ministry of Economy.

He kept quiet when another SODELPA MP read out the names of Fijian Muslims who hold various positions in Fiji.

He also kept quiet when some comments were made about uncircumcised men in Parliament! If his memory betrays him, he can always check Hansard records.

In all of this, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum always raised an objection.

Mr Prasad should take a leaf out of Mr Sayed-Khaiyum’s book.

Mr Prasad had a lot to say about all other issues, except when it was the time to stand up to SODELPA.

Why?

Why did it take constant harassing from Mr Sayed-Khaiyum for Mr Prasad to acknowledge Dr Singh’s ordeal?

Why did Mr Sayed-Khaiyum have to inform Mr Prasad of the Facebook post SODELPA’s Niko Nawaikula had made calling the 2018-2019 National Budget as racist?

Mr Nawaikula had said that this was a racist budget because money had been allocated to commemorate 140 years since the arrival of indentured labourers in Fiji.

Mr Prasad did mention in Parliament that he did not agree with ‘a post on Facebook where the budget was labelled racist.

He did not once call Mr Nawaikula out for it.

He did not once take his name and said it was wrong and irresponsible of Mr Nawaikula to put something like that out on a public forum.

Why the silence, Mr Prasad?
