The Fiji Airways Fijian 7s squad members were reminded to fly the Fiji and Pacific flag with pride at the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco next weekend.

The message was delivered during a farewell gala dinner hosted by the Pioneer Rugby Club Foundation comprised mainly of Pacific islanders living in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Foundation founder Vea Ofa told SUNsports the Pacific community wished the team the very best next week.

“They have been with us and took part in our programme for the past few days and we hosted a dinner to show our appreciation and wish them well in the RWCS campaign,” Ofa said.

“The Fijians here in Utah were excited to have their fellowmen here. They came out in full force to lend support and they were all happy to help out.

“When we host the team for the dinner we reminded the team that we will be supporting them all the way to San Francisco next week. And they should fly the Fiji and the Pacific flag high.”

The Gareth Baber-coached side were grateful for the reception and sang a Fijian hymn Mo Ravi Vei Jisu and the farewell song Isa Lei.

“It was quite an emotional moment when the team sang but we all believe they will go with a fighting spirit and will do their country and the Pacific proud next week,”Ofa said.
