Chief of the Fijian Navy Captain (Navy) Humphrey Tawake says they will soon start the selection process on women sailors to undergo officers’ courses overseas.

He said the new recruits had received their posting.

Some, he said, were working in finance, stores, administration, kitchen and providing security at the entrance at Walu Bay and Togalevu Naval Base.

“Our selection board will start the process soon,” Captain Tawake said.

He said the women sailors were doing an excellent job and their relationship with their male counterparts was good.

He said the 26 women sailors who had graduated had all joined the Fijian Navy.

“They are enjoying their work,” Captain Tawake said.

Like their male counterparts, they adhered to regulations specific to appearance, grooming and health and fitness.

So far, Captain Tawake said he had not received any complaints from the women sailors about their work.
