Malolo beat Suva 31-24 to win the Skipper Cup Premiership women’s final at the ANZ Stadium in Suva yesterday

They won $5000 while Suva received $2000.

What happened: The Malolo women drew first blood in the 4th minute through first five –eighth Merewalesi Rokouono who also converted her own try.

Suva struck back through fullback Mer­eseini Leivere and converted by first five eighth Rusila Tamoi. 7-7

In the 15th minute Suva scored another try to fullback Mereseini Leivere, 12-7.

Malolo hit back with a try to centre Akani­si Sokoiwasa which was converted.

Halftime: Malolo 14-12 Suva

The visitors kept the momentum by scor­ing three tries with one converted while Suva scored two tries which were converted.

Fulltime: Malolo 31-24 Suva

Comments: Suva coach Elenoa Kunatuba said: “I would like to congratulate the Malolo side and also my girls for the lovely effort.”

Malolo Coach Linda Shannon said: “I’m pleased with the effort. They stuck to the game plan and it was only through team­work that we managed to secure victory. From the outset the vision was never about winning the competition but development and up-skilling of our players.”
