Two quick goals in the dying minutes saw Lautoka edge out Nadi 3-2 in the Vodafone Premier League clash at Churchill Park, Lautoka yesterday.

What happened: The hosts drew first blood in the 14th minute through striker Samuela Drudru, but Nadi struck in the 44th minute through a Napolioni Qasevakatini strike to level the scores 1-1.

Halftime: Lautoka 1-1 Nadi

The visitors came out firing in the second spell and dominated play. They took the lead in the 71st minute when striker Rusiate Matererega slammed in their second goal.

With time running out Lautoka gathered their composure and began to pressure the Nadi defence. They got a penalty for a handball in the 91st minute and Zibraaz Saheb kicked in the equaliser. When it seemed that it was going to end in a draw, Mohammed Shazil tapped in the winning goal right on the 94th minute.

Comment: Lautoka coach Kamal Swami said: “Despite the result, Nadi was in top form since most of my players need time to rest. I give my players credit for playing their hearts out and we will be working as a team as we prepare for the INKK Mobile Battle of the Giants.”
