Only two-months after their house was destroyed in a fire, Kritika Prasad and her husband are thankful to be given a place they call home by the Government.

Ms Prasad said they had to stay with her husband’s workmate after their house at Wainivula, Caubati, went up in flames in March.

“We had no place to live and we lost everything in the fire, so were staying there for two months,” she said.

She added that she met the Minister for Local Government, Housing and Environment, Infrastructure and Transport Parveen Bala after the fire and he offered them a place at Kalabu.

“We are so thankful and glad to have a Government that looks after us well,” Ms Prasad said.

“Now we are collecting our stuff little by little.”

Ms Prasad has been married for two years and her husband works as a taxi driver.

She is a housewife and they do not have children.

They moved to their new home two months ago and are paying $50 a week as rent.
