Who will cover the World Cup Sevens for the FIJI SUN

Players fit, healthy and ready to go

The Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team are all geared up for their opening game at the Rugby World Cup Sevens at the AT&T Stadium in San Francisco on Saturday.

Speaking to SUNsports, head coach Gareth Baber said they have done their preparations and the players have coped really well.

“The focus is how we will play from game to game and also applying pressure on the opposition,” he said.

“Playing with pace and continuity in the game and not allowing opposition to settle. This is by keeping the pressure on them not to move around.”

Baber said the players need to be more aggressive, organised and allows more opportunities of turning the ball over and hit them hard in attack.

“It will be about some of these structures that underpin our ability to play at the high temperature.”

Baber added the medical team have reported that all the players are fit and healthy.

“The whole reason that we are providing them with extra ability to recover and facilities for that this will allow them to train harder. This has been good for us in ensuring that we have that focus and drive and concentrate on areas of our play. It has been good and we are healthy which the medical staff had assured me.”

The team arrived in San Francisco yesterday.
