Suspects Released, Police Forward File To DPP

The file of the case of a 52-year-old man of Ra, who was allegedly beaten to death, has been forwarded to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.
The three suspects, who are in their 20s, have been released from Police custody.
This was confirmed by Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro.
“No one has been charged as they’ve been released and the file on the case will be forwarded to DPP,” she said.
She confirmed that a post mortem examination has been conducted.
Last Friday the 52-year-old man was allegedly bashed to death by a group of drunkards in Navolau Village in Rakiraki.
The victim Savenaca Nakuta, a father of three was on his way to visit his wife, Miliakere Kovevanua who is a teacher at Nawaqavesi Primary School.
He worked at the iTaukei Land Trust Board in Ba.
