A day to learn, explore and achieve your dreams of higher education

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) 2018 Open Day will feature in a grand way its 50 years of existence, marking five decades of learning, teaching, cultural diversity and regional co-operation.

The event this year is special as USP celebrates 50 years of achievement in education as the region’s premier university and very noticeable are this year’s displays which will clearly reflect USP’s achievements together with student’s achievements for the past five decades of learning and teaching in the region.

The 2018 USP Open Day provides an opportunity one cannot miss – it is a chance for prospective students, parents/guardians, and members of the public to experience first–hand what the university has to offer and why one should consider USP as the university of first choice.

The event has been carefully designed to serve as a platform of intellectual exchange for so many eager young minds who would like to pursue higher education at an institution renowned for quality, excellent learning environment and excellent teachers, Pacific focus, and excellent links with industry and regional and international partners.

The 2018 Open Day with the  theme of Shaping Your Future   is precisely what USP has done since its establishment in 1968, what it is doing right now and what it will continue to do in the future.

USP’s vision is to achieve excellence and innovation for the development of Pacific Island Countries and a key part is to ensure that we deliver high-quality and relevant programmes that contribute towards developing the skills, knowledge, competencies and attributes of our graduates into  future drivers of building knowledge societies and economies.

USP provides a modern, comfortable, supportive and fun environment where students can excel in every step of their life.

Apart from having the finest sporting and fitness centres, we have a dedicated Campus Life office that ensures that university life is memorable and one of the most exciting times for those who are living on Campus.

USP has 11 student halls of residence with a total of 1097 beds including 31 married quarters for students who want to live on campus.

In addition services such as medical centre, banks, supermarkets and restaurants are within few metres from the halls of residence.

USP has a very diverse library network which comprises 23 libraries, the Main Library being based at the Laucala Campus which has a student seating capacity of 950 readers and a range of services at the disposal of students aimed at ‘student success’.

The university believes in exposing its students to as many cultures and experiences as possible and thus it is also proud to offer a range of student exchange programmes with its international partners.

The university’s Oceania Centre for Arts, Culture and Pacific Studies (OCACPS) is the leading creative centre for the region, with a growing international reputation.

Numerous artists from across the region have contributed to the development of contemporary Oceanic art at the Oceania Centre and artists from the Centre have toured internationally presenting their unique forms of Visual Arts, Dance and Music to the world. OCACPS also offers the Pacific Studies programme.

USP students are also provided with industrial experience. In particular, our hospitality, ICT and engineering schools have secured industry partnerships where deserving students are attached to corporate businesses and mentored by the leaders in the industry.

Students are not only encouraged to climb up the corporate ladders of the best organisations in the world but to be entrepreneurs and most importantly ‘creators of change’ in the community.

School leavers, career professionals and potential mature students are urged to join USP to follow their dreams of getting quality education and get that job you have always wanted.

And why wait, when the 2018 Open Day at any of our campuses in Laucala, Lautoka and Labasa,  is an opportunity to get a feel of your future institution of higher learning.
