Defending champion of the Kula Films Awards, Korovuto Secondary will enter the competition this year with the theme, ‘There is always hope, and when one door closes another door opens”.

This is the message students of the school aim to share at this year’s Kula Awards – Fijian Made Film Awards, Fiji Link Dance Competition and Fiji Airways Art Awards.

The schools film co-ordinator, Artika Chand. said: “We want to spread the message that there is always hope, God will always open another door, so people should never lose hope, especially students who are aspiring and studying towards their goals”.

The short film namely, ‘Storms Will Never Last’, is a short tale about a young student who overcame all odds to achieve her goals.

“That is the kind of message we want young Fijians to get, to never give up, even though they face the most difficult circumstances in life,” Ms Chand said.

“They must always know that there is hope somewhere and someone is always willing to help and most importantly that God is always there for them no matter what.”

Last year, the school nearly made a clean sweep at the festival winning the film category, but settled for second place in the dance category.

“We know it will be difficult trying to defend our title and also win the other category that we missed out on last year,” ,” Ms Chand said.

“We have been working tirelessly and preparations have been hectic, our students are looking forward to the challenge.”

Ms Chand confirmed that they would be featuring in the Fijian Made Film Awards, Fiji Link Dance Competition and Fiji Airways Art Awards categories.
