All Fijian youths are included in Government’s vision to develop and empower young people so they can be self-sufficient says Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou.

Mr Tuitubou, who was on a week-long tour of the Northern Division maritime communities, began his visitations last Monday.

He assured youth groups of the maritime zones that they would be empowered through Government’s development programme.

“All Fijian youth groups are included in our vision to develop young people so they can be financially independent,” Minister Tuitubou said.

“And this is regardless if the youth clubs are faith-based or community- based.”

He said the ministry also had programmes to assist individuals to be entrepreneurs.

Speaking on behalf of the Vunidawa Youth Club, Titilia Tabalailai said Government assistance was needed to help in the smooth running of existing projects.

Ms Tabalailai also made a presentation outlining their income generating projects, the progress made and the assistance they needed.

“While they had income generating projects such as their farms, a warehouse and an incomplete bakery, the club needed Government’s assistance in certain aspects to help with its smooth running,” she said.

“This also included the need for trainings to upskill youth members.”

Responding to their request, Mr Tuitubou applauded the youths for the effort they had put in to initiate and generate these projects.

He said they would need to prioritise their requests in a list, putting first the assistance they needed at the earliest.
