Leba Vananalagi wants people to understand the hardships of single parenting as well as being proactive rather than reactive to situations they face in life.

The 20-year-old contestant will advocate these issues during the Vodafone Millennium Sinu Festival 2018.

“I was actually motivated by how societies these days react to different issues arising from the lack of respect and moral values,” Ms Vananalagi said.

“I would like to ask each and everyone to be appreciative and live a proactive life instead of being reactive.”

The University of the South Pacific student hails from Ucunivanua Verata in Tailevu with maternal links to Nawaikama in Gau.

She is not the first in the family to a contestant of any festival. Her cousin took part in the Bula Festival as one of the contestants couple of years back.

The former A.D Patel College student said she joined as a queen contestant to advocate social issues.

She lists her hobbies as listening to music, reading and dancing.

A confident Ms Vananalagi said she would make a great Miss Nasinu.

“I’m currently pursuing my degree, double major in International Business Management & Economic,” Ms Vananalagi said.

“I believe I can do whatever it takes to be a role model and create an impact in other people’s lives and set out platforms to create more positive mindsets in Fiji.

“In the next five years I see myself as a bold, confident and successful economist and to be a role model to the next generation.”

She said her friends persuaded her to be a contestant.

The festival will start this Saturday and ends with the crowning on August 4 at the Valelevu Ground.
