Etonia Bose has a dream to be an engineer.

The Year 13 Science student of Lelean Memorial School plans to study civil engineering when he leaves high school.

The 19-year-old from Namuka Village, Macuata, in Vanua Levu, was awestruck by the number of career opportunities for engineering students during the University of the South Pacific’s Open Day in Suva yesterday.

Etonia said the Open Day provided a range of options for students.

“I want to study Civil Engineering next year at USP and this Open Day is an excellent opportunity for students like me to explore our options before making a decision,” he said.

“I have always liked USP and this is my second year attending the open day.”

Etonia said he was inspired by his cousins who pursued careers in civil engineering.

“I want to attend USP because it offers the best courses in Fiji with regards to engineering and it has qualified and highly-accredited lecturers and professors,” he said.

He attended the Open Day with schoolmates who were interested in engineering also.

Etonia said the Tertiary Education and Loans Scheme (TELS) would help students like him to pursue their careers and make their families proud.
