Northland look forward to their match against Tailevu next weekend in the third challenge of the HFC Bank Bainimarama Shield.

This was after the side defeated Lautoka 22-21 during the second challenge at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori yesterday

The team walked away with $2,000 for their effort.

Coach Watisoni Ratulevu was impressed with the performance of the players.

“I am really happy with what the boys have achieved and now we will look forward in doing our best as we prepare for our next challenge against Tailevu,” Ratulevu said

What happened:

In the 2nd minute Lautoka stamped their mark by scoring the  first try to  first five –eighth Sireli Satala.

In the 25th minute Northland scored their first try through captain Dan Ligairi, 5-5.

On the 40th minute Satala kicked a penalty.

Halftime: Lautoka 8-5 Northland

Backed by the vocal crowd, the hosts came back firing scoring two converted tries and a penalty.

The Maroons scored a try which was converted and kicked two penalties.

Lautoka Captain Sevanaia Nawalu;

“I thank Northland for the tough match But at the end of the day, one will win, one will lose. We will regroup and prepares for next season.”
