The Tailevu rugby team are not going to make the mistakes they had made in their 8-6 loss to Northland in the Vodafone Vanua Challenge final.

The two newly promoted teams meet again on Friday for the final round of the HFC Bank Ratu Voreqe Bainimarama Challenge at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori.

Tailevu Rugby manager Levani Matei told SUNsports yesterday that the 35-member squad consist of players from the neighbouring villages in the province.

Matei added that they are determined to win this clash.

“When you see Northland they are dominated with players from Army and Police while our team comprised of local boys who have made a lot of sacrifices to come out and play,” he said.

“We are ready and this time the outcome will be different. From the last match, the crowd knew who were the real winners and we plan to give our 110 percent in the game. Northland is a champion side and eventhough we have reached our goal to be part of the Skipper Cup Premiership we want to finish the season with a win.”

Matei said one of their main challenges was getting the team together for training since they were from different villages.

“Trying to get the teams to one location was very costly due to the geographical location but the team still managed to come together.”

The match kicks-off at 5pm.
