The kingmakers of the Tui Labasa are in the dark after kingmakers from the province will be involved in the installation on the new Tui Labasa Ratu Jone Qomate.

When contacted the i-Taukei Lands Commission chairman said they would only be involved if there was a challenge after the installation.

Deep sea fishing

Many at the Ra Provincial Council compound at Dadamu, Nanukuloa, Ra yesterday were wondering why a group from Timor Leste were part of the crowd.

BTL was told that they were invited to be part of the Ra Integrated Coastal Management (ICL) Plan. They had come to pass on to the people of Ra their knowledge of fishing in the deep seas.

A fisherman said in Ra they just fished in shallow waters and reefs.

Now he had learnt a new method and thanked the team from Timor Leste for the new type of fishing.

Abuse of funds

Officials of a church women’s group were told by their church leader to resign as it was alleged they had abused the funds. Before the officials were older members of the church but the youths have taken over.

They just have to resign and that will be the end of the case.
