Inaction by NFP Over anti- Muslim allegations condemned

Inaction by party leader Biman Prasad has been condemned by Fijians, who reached out to the Fiji Sun, alleging that National Federation Party provisional candidate Pradeep Chandra had made anti-Muslim remarks.
Jashwant Lal, Ved Prakash Sharma and a fellow golfing buddy of Mr Chandra – Rajesh Prasad of Nukuloa in Ba had come out on different days with their allegations against Mr Chandra.
They have stood by their comments and are baffled by the response from the NFP leader Biman Prasad.
On the contrary, Mr Prasad, had told party supporters during their annual general meeting that these claims were ‘false’ and ‘cooked up’ by the Fiji Sun.
However, all three men have stood by their comments.
Yesterday, Mr Lal once again reconfirmed the statement uttered by the provisional candidate.
Golfer Mr Prasad reached out to the Fiji Sun after allegations by Mr Lal and Mr Sharma were published.
He recalled similar remarks made by the provisional candidate – Mr Chandra at the Fiji Sugar Corporation Ba Golf Club.
They are perplexed with the NFP leader’s denial of this and his unfounded claims against the Fiji Sun for highlighting this issue.
“Mr Chandra said if you vote for FijiFirst, then all Muslims will run over the country. We will not have any place to live, everything will be taken away from us,” Mr Lal said.
“He said that Muslims would hold the country and we will not have any place to run.”
Mr Lal goes on to say, that Mr Chandra even commented on the fact that the Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum was a Muslim and that he would be turning Fiji into a Muslim country.
All the men agreed to be interviewed on record.
Mr Chandra and Mr Sharma gave their interview on video as well.
Mr Chandra has denied the allegations by the men.
Fiji Sun stood by the article and raised questions on Mr Prasad’s obsession with blaming the media.
