Meet Miss Soko Beauty Sainiana Sova, one of the 12 Queen contestants at this year’s Vodafone Hibiscus Fes­tival.

Her advocacy message is on sus­taining our natural environment for future generations.

The 19-year-old from Naboutini, Serua, is a first-year student of the University of the South Pacific.

She is a former student of Fa’asao Marist High School in American Samoa.

The Vodafone Hibiscus Festival starts this Friday until August 18 and will be held at the Valelevu Grounds in Nasinu.

• WHAT WAS YOUR REACTION WHEN YOU WERE APPROACHED TO BE A CONTESTANT? I was shocked and excited when I received the call to confirm that I was going to be a Hibiscus queen this year.

• WHAT WAS YOUR MOTIVATION FOR ENTERING THIS YEAR’S HIBISCUS? My family and friends.

• WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO AT THE FESTIVAL? Learning new things and improving my interpersonal skills

• HAS IT EVER CROSSED YOUR MIND WHILE GROWING UP AND WATCHING THE FESTIVAL THAT YOU WOULD ONE DAY BE A PART OF IT? Honestly no, because I never imagined myself to be a confident person that could stand in front of people on stage.
• WHO IS YOUR GREATEST INSPIRATION BY FAR? My mom is greatest inspiration.

• WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO TAKE AWAY FROM AFTER THIS YEAR’S FESTIVAL? The bond that I have with girls and our co-ordinator
