Meet Mr APCO Paints – Divesh Chandra

Meet Mr APCO Paints king contestant Divesh Chandra. He is one of the 12 King Contestants at the year’s Vodafone Hibiscus Festival.
He is a former student in Rishikul Sanatan College.
The 21-year-old from Suva is currently a third-year student at Fiji National University’s Fiji Maritime Academy. He is studying marine engineering.
Mr Chandra is also serving an apprenticeship scheme with Government shipping services as a marine engineering cadet.
For this year’s Vodafone Fiji Hibiscus Festival he is advocating on the theme climate change because of the huge impact it has in the world and its population.
The Vodafone Hibiscus Festival starts this Friday and the crowning night is on August 18. It will be held at the Valelevu Grounds in Nasinu.
Q & A with Mr APCO:
- WHAT WAS YOUR REACTION WHEN YOU WERE APPROACHED TO BE A CONTESTANT? I was ecstatic when I received an offer to become one of the king contestants for this year`s Hibiscus Festival as it will be a new chapter of my life with a lot of new experiences and challenges.
- WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO AT THE FESTIVAL? Delivering my research topic to the public because we are the first batch of king contestants who have to do it.
- WHO IS YOUR GREATEST INSPIRATION BY FAR? My greatest inspiration would definitely have to be my parents. Watching them persevere through all the adversities and trials that my family has gone through certainly shaped me into who I am today – constantly striving forward no matter what.
- WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO TAKE AWAY FROM AFTER THIS YEAR`S FESTIVAL?Well I will be working towards my advocate message by visiting NGOs and communities to help in reducing pollution also boosting my confidence level and the brotherhood from all of my fellow king contestants.
- WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITES? Quote: Sooner or later we need to recognise that the earth has rights too, to live in a world without pollution what mankind needs to know that human beings cannot live without mother earth but the planet can live without humans.
- FOOD: I love to eat Indian, Italian, Fijian, Chinese and English cuisines of food and always trying out dishes every time. SONG: Just the way you are – Bruno Mars Guilty Pleasure: Eating pizza and snacks.
