Former New Zealand Silver Fern international Jodi Brown believes the Fijian Pearls have to come out of their comfort zone to prove themselves to the world.

Brown formed a lethal shooting combination with goalshooter Irene van Dyk in international and domestic competitions.

She arrived in the country last night as the Pacific Sporting Partnership NetGO Ambassador to help promote the Year 1–2 Physical Education Delivery in schools.

“It takes a lot of commitment, you need to go out of your comfort zone to really push yourself and we have not seen that from the Fijians so far,” she said.

“Natural talent is their ability to push through training and put all their energy into netball and only then you will see the results.

“I think it is tough since you have limited resources out here and what we can do is to bring those coaching and styles here to help them out.

“I remembered we came here in 2015 before we went to the World Championship and just the raw talents you see that comes out.

“There are untapped natural talents here and when they bring their game they could be anyone in the world.”

Brown has fond of memories for playing the Fijian and loves to give back to the community. “I played my 50th test here in Fiji. I have fond memories of playing netball here, the untapped potential you have as players.

“From the Fijian team right down to the primary schools and that is really exciting,” she added.

Her advice for youngsters who wish to pursue the sport is that they should not think twice.

Brown will be working with Pacific Sporting Partnership- Fiji Country coordinator Unaisi Rokoura.

She will also be making an appearance during the Fiji Primary Schools Central Zone meet in Suva to meet our future netballer stars from August 13- 14.
