Rejieli Vasau sponsored by Pinto Industries Limited is looking forward to use the Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North platform to be the voice of the young generation.

The 24-year-old University of the South Pacific Labasa campus student, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Hotel Management, is among the 12 queen contestants.

The week-long festival will be held at Subrail Park in Labasa starting on August 18.

Miss Vasau said her advocacy message was to improve diet and live a healthy life to avoid obesity in the Northern Division.

“I chose this topic because obesity is a rising issue in our health system today,” she said.

“The rise of obesity has placed the entire generation at risk.

“I would like to encourage young people to live a healthy life style so we can all be as good as we can be.”

The eldest of five siblings originally from Saqani and currently residing at Naodamu in Labasa said she was privileged to represent her sponsor.

“Pinto Industries Limited is a company promoting the Look North Policy through its investment and has been part of this annual event for so many years,” she said.

“If I win the crown I will create an awareness programme and form a youth group to visit villages and places to carry on with my advocacy message, which is to improve diet and live a healthy life to avoid obesity.

“I want to keep reminding and encouraging youths that health is very important because today not everyone realises how lucky they are by being healthy.”

Her hobbies are listening to music, singing, dancing, socialising with people, reading and playing volleyball.
