4000 Helpline Calls From January
The Medical Services in the Pacific (MSP) have recorded over 4000 calls from January to date.
This was highlighted by the MSP founder and executive director Jennifer Poole yesterday. She said the calls ranged from genuine calls, testing calls, prank calls and silent calls.
After its launch in 2015, MSP has recorded over 40,000 calls so far. MSP currently has six counsellors on the line and nine counsellors in total for shift work operating on a 24-hour basis.
Permanent secretary for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Dr Josefa Koroivueta said the number of calls received showed the success of the awareness conducted by the ministry and the MSP.
Meanwhile, MSP has visited about 80 schools this year with a target of two school visits per week. Edited by Ranoba Baoa
