The Lautoka Under-13 side will play in Nadi the final today after defeating Nadroga 7-5 in the semifinal yesterday in the Vodafone West Kids Rugby Festival.

It was an exciting match as Lautoka put on the pressure right from the start but Nadroga defended well to hold the Maroons scoreless at halftime at Churchill Park, Lautoka.

However, there was no stopping Lautoka as they stepped on the gas resulting in Manasa Balubalu Qalo scoring the first try which was converted by Filimone Volau.

Nadroga came storming back with a try however they failed to make the conversion.

Lautoka coach Elesio Tora was very happy they reached the final.

“We played according to plan and we won,” Tora said.

He commended the players’ dedication despite the financial struggles they went through.

“We managed to succeed together with the help of our parents,” Tora said.

Team captain Joseva Dauinivalu said the match was evenly played.

“We came out strong and we won,” he said.

Lautoka play Nadi in the final at Churchill Park, Lautoka today.
