Fiji’s judiciary welcomed a new inclusion to its rank following the appointment of Acting Judge this morning at the State House.

Justice Vishwa Datt Sharma was officially sworn in by the President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote yesterday.

He holds a Professional Diploma in Legal Practice, and a Bachelor of Law, from the University of the South Pacific.

He joined the judiciary as a clerk in 1977 and worked his way through to become a Senior Court Officer.

In 2009, he was appointed as the Legal Officer at the Attorney-General’s Chambers and appointed as Resident Magistrate in 2014.

Following this, he was appointed as the Acting Master of the High Court in Suva and confirmed to the position in 2016. He presently holds the position of the Master at the High Court in Suva.

Chief Justice, Judge Anthony Gates and Chief Registrar Yohan Liyanage were also present at the swearing-in ceremony.
