Surfing For Children At Natadola

The third Rip Curl Micro Grommet Series will feature over 50 children surfing in the Under-10, U12 and U14 boys and girls’ divisions at Natadola beach on Saturday.

Fiji Surfing head coach Ian Portingale said the contest is about introducing surfing to the children.

“This is the largest number recorded in the competition ever since its inception,” Portingale said.

“It will feature children from Sigatoka to Kulukula and the surrounding villages.

“This a great way to try surfing as everyone’s a winner in safe conditions and a supportive environment.

“The under 10s can have their parents to assist to assist them.”

Portingale acknowledged sponsors Rip Curl, Jack’s, Hot Bread Kitchen, McDonald’s, Fiji National Sports Commission, Vatuvara Eco Resort and Wailoaloa Boardriders.

The free family day kicks off at 11am while the surfing starts at 10am.
