Republic of Fiji Military Forces sailors will be joining the Indian Navy Ship (INS) Sahyadri personnel in Darwin, Australia, to participate in the multi-national Exercise KAKADU 18.

The INS Sahyadri departed yesterday for Darwin. The RFMF band gave the ship and her crew an impressive send-off.

During the trip to Fiji the vessel, which was berthed at the Port of Suva, offered everything from free medical check-ups to a class of Yoga. It was in Fiji from August from 13-16.

More than 1500 people, between the ages of two years and 80 years, took advantage of the medical checks.

Captain of INS Sahyadri Shantanu Jha said: “The response towards the open day was absolutely fantastic.

“It was amazing to see the shared enthusiasm displayed when they were given tours around the ship.”

“We have had very fruitful discussions with the Government and military leadership.”

Meanwhile, Exercise KAKADU participating nations include Australia, Canada, Fiji, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, Tonga, United States of America, and Vietnam.
