Suva Grammar School dominated the Fiji Secondary Schools Netball competition at Central College in Lautoka yesterday.

The Grammarians won the Under-15, U17 and U19 grades.

The U19 team defeated Jasper Williams High School 22-12 in an exciting final.

The U17 side defeated Uluivalili Secondary 19-14 and the U15 team defeated St Joseph’s Secondary School 16-14.

U19 captain Keleti Tikotani applauded the girls for playing to everyone’s expectations.

She admitted captaining the winning side was  major achievement for her.

“It means a lot to me,” she said.

“We are really happy that we did our part as this is our last year in school,” she said.

Coach Navitalai Naivalu was impressed with the side’s performance.

“We are really happy that we won the U15, U17 and U19 grades,” he said.

“We would like to dedicate this win to Lydia Panapasa as she had to go to New Zealand,” Naivalu said.

He said that the plan was to work on short passes.

The U17 captain Bulou Litia said that she was overly glad for winning after losing in the semi-final last year.

“The loss last year motivated us to win it this year,” Litia said.

“The first quarter was tough but we never lost hope. We knew we would win in the end.”

She kept on telling the girls to believe in one another.

Other results: Nadi Muslim College 12-7 Macuata (boys); U14: Jasper Williams High 11-7 Adi Cakobau School.
