Women Learn More About Construction

Habitat for Humanity Fiji partnered the Australia-Pacific Technical College (APTC) and supported by Asian Development Bank (ADB), to provide an opportunity to a group of 20 Fijian women to learn construction work.
CPC20112 Certificate II in Construction programme for women is designed to offer students the opportunity to gain skills and qualifications in the construction industry, while simultaneously assisting with the construction of four real homes.
This requires applicants to have basic prior knowledge of construction and building. The 18-week programme started on August 6 in Suva after the construction of actual homes as part of practical assessment.
The participants are provided with guidance and support to study the concepts, management tools and techniques as part of classroom learning. The mentors then work closely with them to apply these skills to elevate the performance of their existing carpentry knowledge.
Graduates of this course will receive an internationally recognised Certificate II Australian qualification, which will be issued through TAFE Queensland.
