The United States of America’s swimming team to the Junior Pan Pacific Championships boast of four individual medallists from the 2017 FINA World Championships. They are Carson Foster, Ella Nelson, Emily Weiss and Daniel Roy.

Roy, a 2017 World Juniors gold medallist attends Stanford University.

Speaking to SUNsports, he said Fiji is a special place for him, after his parents had visited on many occasions where they handed supplies to local students.

“I’m really looking forward to a great competition,” he said.

“I never knew that I will be representing my country in Fiji for a competition like this but it is a great opportunity.

“I want to accomplish my goals. This will be my last junior championship trip. I want to go back with good memories and hopefully improve on my time.”

Roy said that Australia and New Zealand would give them good competition.

Roy was born in Japan to an American father and Japanese mother.

He moved to America when he was young. He resides in North West of Washington.

“I am currently studying at Stanford University,” he added.
