The preparation towards the 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Championships is taking form as they have two days remaining for the opening ceremony at the Damodar Aquatic Centre, Suva.

Fiji Swimming general manager David Dugu told SUNsports last night that only a few countries are yet to arrive but so far everything has been going smooth.

“Preparation is on par and looking at the competition venue, teams are following their strict training schedule,” he said.

“The competition has heightened with swimmers from top swimming countries who are using this as a platform to prepare for the Olympics and the World Games.”

Dugu added that United States officials are working closely with them to spearhead the event.

“Fiji Swimming has achieved its goal to host an international competition very two years. To make this a success we have one veteran sports broadcaster Brendan Telfer who will be here during the three-day event.

“Not only that, a few of our local officials also underwent training with the FINA technical committee to ensure that we have the qualified people during the competition.”

Dugu is urging the public to come out and top class swimming competition and also support our local swimmers.
