UEFA Champions League On FBC TV

For the first time Fijians can watch the UEFA Champions League on free to air television with the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation.
FBC chief executive officer Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum made the announcement at the FBC boardroom yesterday.
Sayed-Khaiyum said the UEFA Champions League can be viewed on FBC Sports and the delayed coverage would be available on FBC TV.
He added this shows the dedication that FBC has, in trying to bring a better content especially in sports.
“Because of its price value, it is always expensive to broadcast on a pay service and people have to pay a lot of money for it,” Sayed-Khaiyum said.
NEED FOR SUPPORT
“We have managed to negotiate and convince the content owners of UEFA to seal us the rights to free to air television so that every Fijian will be able to watch top quality football.
“UEFA Champions League is all about top European teams with 69 matches, 61 games live on FBC Sports and eight games delayed on FBC TV.
“FBC Sports and FBC TV are one of the 28 broadcasters to show the UEFA amongst the 73 broadcasters around the world and the Asia Pacific region.”
Saiyed-Khayum is calling on sponsors to help and support this six-year plan.
“There is a lot of work behind the scene from our team, this is such a large tournament and we are glad that all our hard work has paid off.
“It is a very expensive commodity to buy to any television.
“We are keen to get this sponsored and get backing not only for the purpose for covering costs.
“But we also ensure that we have enough backing for this to be able to provide UEFA on free to air television on years to come.”
The UEFA Championship ends on June 2, 2019.
