Widow Relieved With Payment Eligibility

Twenty-four-year-old, Losana Uluinadi is unemployed and a mother to three children.
The thoughts of her children’s daily welfare started to worry her after the death of her husband, Tomasi Bulitavu, 27.
The ambulance driver by profession, who was the family’s sole breadwinner, died when the van he was driving got involved in the fatal accident in Nabou earlier this month.
The accident claimed the lives of eight people.
But, yesterday the Narewa Village in Nadi mother was quite relieved when she was told of her eligibility under the accident compensation commission scheme after her husband’s death.
The scheme provides for families of the deceased to be compensated with $75,000.
Her eldest child Lora Bulitavu is four-years-old, Manasa Bulitavu is two-years-old and Tuinakarawa is five-months-old.
“After my husband’s death, I was quite worried about my children’s welfare because my husband was the sole bread winner of our family,” Ms Bulitavu said.
“But, it’s quite relieving to know there is such assistance from Government to help us.
“This will be invested in my children’s education since they are still young, none of them are in school yet.”
Her in-laws are assisting her with their welfare on a daily basis.
“My husband was a hard working man, humble and kind hearted. He worked hard every day for the sake of our children, just to make us happy,” Ms Bulitavu added.
