Traffic snarls again

The traffic on the back road from Laqere to Nepani, Nadawa and Nadera between Suva and Nausori is beginning to crawl again.

This is because impatient drivers are back using a residential road to jump the queue, creating a bottleneck. They are creating a second traffic lane merging with the main road near the Nadawa junction and causing the jam.

BTL had raised the concern before. Police and Land Transport Authority promptly responded and closed off the temporary second lane. Traffic moved faster after that for some weeks. Now it’s back to where it was. It’s time for a re-visit by Police and LTA.

Dining hall loss

Burnt dining room

Think about the students and teachers of Saqani High School.

This is the Saqani High School dining room in Vanua Levu af-ter a fire. When school resumes next Monday students might still be without a dining hall.

The school has about 150 students with more than 70 boarders.

Shopping time

Ministers from maritime zones attending the 2018 Methodist Conference  are using their lunch breaks to do their shop-ping before they return home. They will have little time after the conference.

Wandering Students

To Makoi parents: Some of you did not know your young chil-dren were hanging out at a bus stop very late the night before. They look like primary school students. Please heed the Po-lice warning to look after your children.

However, it seems the advice is falling on deaf ears.

Light earthquake

Those of you in Suva who thought you felt an earthquake yesterday, you were right.

A release from the Seismology Unit Mineral Resources Department at 241 Mead Road, Nabua, said that a light earthquake with shallow depth occurred near Wakaya Island yesterday. Tremor reports were received from the Suva to Nausori corri-dor. However, it did not pose any threat.
