Container Company Celebrates Silver Jubilee

The United Containers (Fiji) Limited (UCFL) celebrating its silver jubilee tomorrow Thursday, August 23 at the Rokobili terminal, Suva.
Director United Containers (Fiji) Limited Bernard Hong-Tiy said marking their 25 years of service in the shipping industry was a huge milestone to the company.
“The seaside cocktail is our means of celebrating our existence with the partnership and support of our customers and service providers,” Mr Hong-Tiy said.
UCFL is a family owned Fijian company in a joint venture with New Zealand container company.
“We are a provider of Fiji’s most comprehensive container depot service to majority of international shipping lines that call into Fiji,” he said.
“It is a feather in Fiji’s cap when it comes to our offering relevant and cost-effective services to container shipping lines, reinforcing Fiji’s shipping hub status here in the Oceania.”
UCFL provides industry required container repairs, cleaning and general preparation of empty containers to international standards for the purpose of carrying Fijian, Australian and New Zealand exports to the rest of the world.
“Certified container hygiene systems lowers the biosecurity risk profile for Fiji exports as well as treating Fiji ports facilities to hold systemized containers,” he said.
A ‘service export’ business, he said earned revenue from off shore.
UCFL operates three depots – two in Suva and one in Lautoka. The company employs more than 50 staff and is part of a large network of depots in Fiji and NZ.
Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism and Chairman of Fiji Ports Corporation Limited, Shaheen Ali,the chief guest at the auspicious event.
