The American Samoa women football team will be banking on their young players and teamwork to get them through in the OFC Women’s Nation’s Cup 2018 Qualifiers which kicks off tomorrow at Churchill Park tomorrow.

Team manager Sandra Fruean said every team would be vying for a spot in the next round of the OFC Women’s Nation’s Cup competition later this year.

“It will be really tough for us but I believe and I am confident our young team can get the job done,” Fruean said.

She said this would also be a good development platform for their young squad.

The majority of the squad age ranged from 14-years to 17-years and the oldest is 28-years-old.

“We know that we can take on these teams through teamwork, I mean we have some very talented and fast players, but it is all about working well together as a team that will get them through and get them the win.”

Fruean said their young squad would be more than capable of beating Fiji, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.

She said nothing would be impossible for their team if they worked together and that was what they would be planning to do.

The team trained at the Lautoka Central Primary School ground, yesterday.
