Jasper Williams Boarding Fee Remains

A motion to reduce boarding fees at Lautoka’s Jasper Williams High School has been defeated during the Methodist Church annual conference in Suva.
A representative from the Yasawa-i-Rara circuit introduced the motion to decrease the $300 boarding fees per term at the school.
He said most students from Yasawa attended JWHS because it was a Christian school.
He said that for most islanders paying $300 a term was too expensive.
School chairperson Reverend Immanuel Rueben, while responding to the motion, said students and their families were blessed to be only paying $300.
“There is 90 days in one term and paying $300 is more than enough because it is just like one student paying $3.33 a day,” Reverend Reuben said.
“It caters for breakfast, lunch, dinner, electricity and water bills. There are other students from other schools who are paying more.”
