Fijian Trio Qualify For B-finals

Temafa Yalimaiwai, Mosese Bobi and Damien Kitione of Fiji qualified for the B-final of the boy’s 200 metres Butterfly during the 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Championships at the Damodar Aquatic Centre, Suva yesterday.
Fiji Swimming head coach Sharon Smith said they had put out a great performance and this has been a good experience for the team.
Smith added that 28 swimmers out of the 34-member squad were able to achieve personal bests.
“We are on the right track and the side has shown a lot of hard work and determination,” she said.
“Ninety-five percent of the team was able to get personal bests and this experience has been an eye-opener to the children.”
Smith added that they need to support the team as they prepare for the second day of competition.
Meanwhile, Fiji Swimming president Ben Rova said day one of the competition had a few minor hiccups but everything was able to run smoothly.
“Everything was on time and we are proud that the tournament was able to progress despite the hiccups. We are looking forward to tomorrow (today) and the events to come,” he added. –
