Suva Top 8 In Quarters

The Escott Shield and Koroturaga Cup quarterfinals games will be held at Bidesi and Buckhurst grounds, Suva tomorrow
The shield, named after the late Governor of Fiji in 1913 Sir Ernest Sweet– Escott, has been the coveted silverware for the Suva Rugby Union for the past 105 years.
Suva Rugby secretary Paula Raqeukai said the purpose of the Escott Shield and the 10-year-old Koroturaga Cup comeptitions was to build club rugby in the capital city.
“This is a very special tournament where all the teams will be coming out strong,” Raqeukai said
“The eight top teams that have qualified to the quarterfinals will need to lift their competition to another level.
Raqeukai encourage fans and families to support their teams during the competition
“This year is unique because it is the 105th year of Escott Shield competition,” he said
“We are urging supporters, former Suva reps and officials to be at Laucala on Saturday.”
The women’s rugby 10s semifinals will be played next Saturday as there are only 4 teams that were registered in the competition.
BLUES READY
Police Blues play Savura in the quarterfinal of the Escott Shield.
“We will be treating this game as the final and we will come out firing,” Police coach Solomone Nute said
“We’ve been preparing very well for our match against Savura.
“We know we are the defending champions of the Escott Shield but the focus is Savura on Saturday.”
The former Suva prop is expected bank on Jone Delana, Samu Bola and Meli Kurisaru.

9am (Buckhurst Park) Fire Wardens v USP; 10.35am Nasinu v Drainivau Sharks; 12pm RKSOB v Namuka-i-lau; 1.35pm Police White-Armey Red.
Escott Shield quarters (Bidesi Park)
9am: Police Blue v Savura, 10.35 Covenant Blue v Nabua; 12 Navy v Regent Breakthrough; 1.35 Army Green v QVSOB.
