Temafa Yalimaiwai has been one of the most improved swimmers for Team Fiji in the 2018 Pan Pacific Junior Championship.

Yalimaiwai had a personal best of 58.17 and bettered that by 0.43s to break the Fiji Open national record and secure him a place in the B finals, last night.

Yalimawai also made the B-final in the 200m butterfly where he finished fifth with a time of 2minutes 14 sec.

“I was really happy when I found out that I set a new national record,” Yalimaiwai said.

“This has been a good learning experience for me and now that I have seen what these big nations are capable off I will need to go back and train harder.”

He will compete in the 200m Individual Medley and the 50m freestyle today.

Digicel provides free Wi-Fi

Meanwhile, Digicel has been providing Wi-Fi at the 2018 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships.

Digicel Fiji chief executive officer Mike Greig said, “We are delighted to partner and show our support for this huge event hosted by Fiji Swimming.

“Our support for the championship is providing free wireless internet hotspots at the pool.

“There are more than 500 swimmers and officials from 11countries participating and we will showcase to them our superfast 4G+ wireless network.

“I believe this will add value and boost publicity for the swimming event as they are provided the platform to freely communicate and promote Fiji and the championships on Facebook, and other social sites, being able to upload pictures and videos at an amazing speed without having to worry about paying for data.

“High speed Wi-Fi truly makes people feel connected to home, and that’s what we want for overseas swimmers and guests to enjoy paradise while having that connection with those they love.”
