Teamwork A Must: Tuitubou Tells

The Fiji Airways Fijian Drua performance during their first year in the Australian National Rugby Championship was beyond expectation, says Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou.
Speaking during the launch of the Fijian Drua season, he highlighted the team finished third on the overall standings against some tough opponents.
“The NRC is Australia’s national professional rugby union competition,” he said.
“As of 2018, it is contested by seven teams from around Australia plus one from Fiji.
“The NRC is the top-level tournament administered by Australian Rugby. It is the most important club competition for players in Australia following Super Rugby.”
Tuitubou urged the players to take the task at hand seriously as they would be facing tough opponents.
“Providing opportunities for our rugby players is being done in line with our objective to strengthen sports development in the country and for our players to be exposed to top class rugby.”
Tuitubou said our participation in the NRC also assists our national coaches to scout players for our Fiji Airways Fijian 7s and Fiji Airways Flying Fijians teams.
“One of the classic examples being Eroni Sau who stamped his mark on the sevens arena and was given the nickname the ‘Sledgehammer’.
“I’m glad to say the Drua team played a huge role in preparing Sau for the world stage and I have the utmost trust that the team and competition will continue to provide a pathway of our players.”
Tuitubou said it is time to celebrate the launching of the new season, it also a time to recommit, strategise and reaffirm our goals.
“It is once again time to set your personnel goals but most importantly your goal as a team.
“I must reiterate what your coaches have been stressing on the training field- that nothing beats teamwork.”
