Fundraiser query

Questions are being asked about the $150 a ticket fundraising dinner hosted by SODELPA on September 1.

Is it for party campaign funds or to fund the party leader’s legal battles, specially to pay for the QC to defend him in his trial?

Some in the party believe that it’s okay if it is for the election campaign. But they disagree that the party should pay for Sitiveni Rabuka’s legal costs. They argue it’s a personal matter and the party should not be dragged into it .

They say it is just like FijiFirst’s Mahendra Reddy when he was charged while he was Minister for Education, Mr Reddy paid his own legal bills. He won his case.

This event has also renewed calls for more transparency in SODELPA activities. Members need to know the purpose of all fundraising and how the funds will be spent.

Otherwise questions will continue to be asked.

Installation snag

BTL has been reliably informed that the installation of the Tui Labasa will be on Friday.

The installation will be carried out by another group and the

people of Nasekula will not be part of the chiefly ceremony.

BTL has been told that the Tuatua clan should be installing the Tui Labasa.

More could be heard of this latest chiefly title saga.
