Mr Usamate said this incentive was one of the many incentives put in place for the benefit of both employees and employers in the country.
Some of these include the increased number of maternity leave dates, paternity leave, family care leave and the tax rebates when employers comply with these incentives.
It was also clarified during this consultation that fathers of a child – even if they were in a defacto relationship with the mother- were also eligible for the five-day paternity leave.
He urged the employer to take good care of their employees because this ensured maximised productivity.
“We believe that a safe work place has benefits for the worker as it keeps a person healthy and when you have a healthy worker, or when a worker feels safe, it contributes to productivity for the company,” Minister Usamate said.
He said for this reason Occupational Health and Safety was an investment for any organisation. Source: DEPTFO News
