Overseas Teams Confirmed For Sanatan World Cup Competition

Overseas football teams have confirmed their participation at the 2018 Ram’s Group of Companies Sanatan World Cup at Prince Charles Park in Nadi from Sep­tember 7-9.

The tournament organised by the Sanatan World Cup Sports and Cultural Inc will have feature 12- member countries competing for top honours in football and netball.

Sanatan World Cup Sports and Cultural Inc Board of Governor Neelesh Ram told SUN­sports that their preparation to host the event in Fiji has been overwhelming.

“The tournament is expected to attract a number of former and current district and national reps playing for local and overseas teams,” he said.

New Zealand Ba to feature Shameel Rao and Divinesh Deo while Nadi will have Ravikesh Narayan, Krishna Sami and Avinesh Swamy.

“Teams from Australia, New Zealand, and Canada along with local teams will partici­pate in the three-day event. The 8th tourna­ment has the support and blessings of the Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji and Fiji Football Association.”


Ram also said that Fiji Football Referees As­sociation will be providing referees to offici­ate in the tournament and fans would be able to witness a well organised event.

He has also confirmed that gate entry for this tournament is free and has requested fans to come out in numbers to support their respec­tive teams.

The tournament was last held in Auckland, New Zealand in 2016 and was won by Queens­land from Australia. They will be defending their title in the Open category title.

“The football competition will be played out in four categories with the all age, over-45s, over-40s and under-15s categories.”


Open Men

Pool A– Queensland, Ba, Korovuto, Nabua;

Pool B – Rotorua (NZ), Nakasi, Drasa, Navua;

Pool C – NZ Ba, Tuva, Nasinu, Ulusila;

Pool D – Nadi, Varoka, Suva, Makoi.

U40s Category

Pool A – Western Sydney, NZ Tavua, Queens­land, Navua, Nadroga;

Pool B – NZ Lautoka, Sydney Savusavu, Ma­koi, and Korovuto.

Tournament draws are going to be released today.
